We spent the weekend at a nice
campground in the countryside east of Paris where we could get WiFi
at the office, do some laundry and catch up with chores.
We left just before noon and drove
northeast towards the Champagne region to explore the vineyards and
the “Maisons du Champagne.” We drove through wheat and
cornfields where the corn was tasseled and many of the wheat fields
were being cut. As we approached the Valley of the Marne River, the
landscape had more hills and we started to see vineyards.
We decided
to stay at a French Passion – now, now, don't let your mind wander
too much – this is an organization of farmers, vintners and
craftspeople who provide space to park overnight and we get a chance
to sample and purchase items they grow or make. We found a small
independent Maison du Champagne that grow their own grapes and make
their own champagne. We pulled in, got settled and the grandson came
out to greet us and found they provide electric – a wonderful added
bonus we didn't expect. Another RV came in shortly after that and we
talked for a while with Anna and Roger from Sweden. We enjoyed watching the sheep in the pasture next to our parking area, including one black sheep!
