Cars drove on first to the upper vehicle deck |
Friday: We spent the afternoon driving across Nova Scotia to the northeastern town of North Sydney, to board the ferry to Newfoundland. The cars began driving onto the ferry about 4:45 followed by the campers.

RVs and trailers, including tractor trailers went on the lower deck |
We checked out our very basic room with a bathroom and shower before roaming the ship to scout out dinner options. One of the two bars had a live country music band and we sat for a while enjoying the music.

Of the three options for dinner (snackbar, buffet, formal restaurant) we chose the formal restaurant. We had a very nice meal of halibut for me and chicken for Jack.
After dinner we returned to our cabin where Jack watched television and I read until bedtime. We could not feel any ship motion, but in the middle of the night, the ship must have sped up because we got a lot of engine vibration. There is no access at all to the RV once the ship is underway and our room was a whole lot more comfortable than the folks chairs in the movie theatre that many were using to sleep for the overnight ferry ride.
