Maine

Woke to beautiful sunny skies and low 50's - great sleeping weather.  Got on the road early, driving north on Route 1 through scenic Maine coastal towns and southeast to Deer Isle, Maine.

Destination:  Nervous Nellie's Jams and Jellies, and home of Peter Beerits, metal and wood sculptor.  Anne makes delicious jams, jellies, conserves and chutneys and Jack used to have it shipped to us in South Carolina.  Peter made the alligator sculpture we have in the backyard.

We were here about 15 years ago and he has greatly expanded the artworks on the property - not really sure what to call them, but a combination of metal and wood sculptures along with wooden buildings, some of which use wood milled in the old-fashioned way.  His Knights of the Round Table and castle are greatly expanded and has added a whole new Old West "town" with a saloon, jail with assorted characters.   A completely new addition is a beautiful church in the trees.  Some of his unique fanciful designs.....

We are enjoying the diversity of spring flowering plants -   lilacs, horse chestnut trees, redbuds, azaleas, rhododendrons, cherry blossoming trees, wood violets, and apple blossoming trees.
Wood violets - remind me of growing up in north Jersey.

Apple Blossoms

We stopped for lunch on a causeway with water views on both sides.

We drove inland and north and stopped for the night about 20 miles south of the Maine border. We enjoyed listening to the rain showers on the RV roof.
